Turkish fish feast for the Spaniards
Fisheries Promotion Group (STG) in Spain
Fisheries Promotion Group (STG) participated in the 17th Conxemar International Fisheries Fair held in Vigo, Spain on October 5-6-7, 2015 in order to increase the export of fisheries products in Spain. At the fair, which is the meeting point of the seafood industry, there was a feast of Turkish sea bass, sea bream and other seafood.
Stating that the aquaculture sector, which is one of the star sectors in Turkey’s exports, has reached a market share of 25 percent in the European market in sea bass and sea bream, STG President Melih İşliel said, “As the Fisheries Promotion Group (STG), we participated in the 17th Conxemar International Fisheries 2015 Fair held in Vigo, Spain and We promoted our Turkish aquatic products with fish dishes prepared by Spanish chef Maria Sowe. Conxemar Fair is also an opportunity to open up to the African market. It is a fair that we plan to attend next year in order to take advantage of these opportunities.”
Stating that Spain is the third largest aquaculture importer country in the world, İşliel said, “People living in this geography know our Mediterranean and Aegean fish, especially our sea bass and sea bream. There is approximately 8 thousand km of coastline in Spain, and fisheries, aquaculture and canning facilities are highly developed. However, since their own production cannot meet the need, they need imports. We see Spain as an important gateway to increase our exports in Europe. We want to sign new export connections here and increase our existing exports.”
Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman of the Board of Directors Sinan Kızıltan said, “I find it useful to mention our aquatic products, which are exported the most to Spain, as sea bream, sea bass and shrimp. If we talk about the export values of Turkey to Spain, to Spain; Our fisheries exports, which were 27 million 970 thousand dollars in the January-October period of 2014, decreased by 12 percent in the same period of 2015 and fell to 24 million 481 thousand dollars. The reason for this is the stagnation in the economy in general. We aim to increase the export of fisheries products to 30 million dollars”.
The Fisheries Promotion Group stand was one of the stands that attracted the most attention at the fair, and at the Conxemar 2015 Fisheries Fair, the Spanish chef Maria Sowe offered the visitors the opportunity to taste the fish of our country prepared with various recipes, promotional materials were distributed, and at the same time, the fish of our country were exhibited to create the image of Turkish fish. worked. Fish was offered to nearly one thousand five hundred visitors at the stand.
At Conxemar 2015 Fisheries Fair, the Fisheries Promotion Group (STG) was represented by STG President Melih İşliel, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman Sinan Kızıltan, STG Board Members Taner Ciger, İsmail Aksoy, Aegean Exporters’ Unions Chief Serap Ünal was represented by Gizem Kamacı, a member of the Press Public Relations Branch.
