PLMA’s Private Label Trade Show Fair 2015

The aquaculture sector, which is among the rare sectors that can increase its exports in Turkey in 2015, continues its promotional activities in the United States, which it has determined as the target market.

Fisheries Promotion Group (STG) promoted Turkish aquaculture products by participating in PLMA’s Private Label Trade Show Fair held in Chicago, USA, between 15-17 November 2015.

STG is also reaping the fruits of its promotional activities in the USA. Turkey’s aquaculture exports to the USA increased by a record 47 percent in 2015, rising from $11.8 million to $17.4 million.

Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, stated that STG aims to increase its exports to destinations with direct flights from Turkey. He also stated that they want to have a good place in the market by participating in the Trade Show Fair.

Stating that there is an intense interest and trust in aquaculture because it is produced in the USA in a healthy and controlled manner, Kızıltan said, “Americans are a society that loves and consumes seafood. In the USA, especially in recent years, healthy nutrition is a much higher value. We want to make the most of this trend in the USA.”

Pointing out that Turkey’s aquaculture sector managed to increase its exports in a period when the general exports of Turkey declined in 2015, Kızıltan continued: “Our aquaculture sector increased its exports from 350 million dollars to 406 million dollars in the January-October period of 2015 with an increase of 16 percent. Our aquaculture exports to the USA increased by 47 percent from 11 million 812 thousand dollars to 17 million 408 thousand dollars. We are taking firm steps towards our export targets for 2023.”

2,700 participating companies from 35 countries and over 5,000 local and foreign professionals visit the fair, which is held once a year, where private label products for many sectors (store brands, private labels, private brands) can be exhibited. 20,000 different products are on display at the fair. In addition to small and medium-sized companies, well-known large companies that supply Brand Products to supermarkets are also participating in the fair.

At Chicago PLMA’s Private Label Trade Show Fair, Fisheries Promotion Group was represented by Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman Sinan Kızıltan, STG Board Members Ufuk Atakan Demir and İsmail Aksoy and EİB Personnel Gökçe Tol. Turkey’s Boston Commercial Attaché Alperen Kaçar and Chicago Commercial Attaché Officer S.Barlas Bildir visited the STG stand.
